Wisconsin Getting Crushed For Its Finish Against Penn State

Wisconsin had its chances, but never capitalized during a brutal loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon.

The two ranked Big Ten squads engaged in a defensive bout on Saturday. Both teams entered halftime without having scored a single point, although the Badgers had plenty of opportunities to score. Somehow, Wisconsin was even worse in the second half, despite actually putting up points.

Quarterback Graham Mertz, in particular, played poorly down the stretch. The Badgers had an opportunity to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but Mertz’s third-down throw was off target and fell incomplete.

In fact, fans have been taking to Twitter all afternoon to discuss Graham Mertz, who appears to have lost support from the Badgers’ fan-base.

“I’m starting to think Graham Mertz’s opener against Illinois last season was an outlier…,” one fan said on Twitter.

“Soooo we have enough evidence to see that Graham Mertz is just like any other Wisconsin quarterback not named Russell Wilson….right? He ain’t good folks,” another said.

Check out what others had to say about Mertz’s performance on Saturday.

Graham Mertz may want to stay off social media this weekend. He’s not going to like what he sees.

Mertz was coined the next college football superstar after a strong start last year. But he was next to awful against the Penn State defense on Saturday.

Wisconsin has some things to think about at the quarterback decision next week.
