On Sunday afternoon, the Washington Football Team received some tough news when quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick left with an injury.
The veteran quarterback suffered hip subluxation in yesterday’s Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. As a result, he’s expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Washington Football Team confirmed that timetable with their decision to place Fitzpatrick on the Reserve/Injured list. In a corresponding move, Washington announced it signed linebacker Jared Norris from the practice squad.
We have made the following roster moves:
-Placed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on the Reserve/Injured List.

Fitzpatrick completed 3-of-6 passes for 13 yards before he was forced to leave the game with an injury. Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who nearly upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs last season, took over.
He completed 11-of-15 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown during Washington’s 20-16 loss on Sunday. Heinicke received a nice payday after the team’s playoff loss to the Buccaneers and it looks like he’ll have to earn it this season.
Washington must move on quickly as it prepares for a Thursday night kickoff against the New York Giants.
