Video Emerges Of Deion Sanders’ Altercation With Reporter

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, new Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders had his first run-in with the media.

Sanders abruptly ended his appearance at SWAC Media Day after Nick Suss of the Clarion Ledger called him “Deion.” The Hall of Fame cornerback apparently had a problem with being called by his first name.

Sanders took to Twitter on Tuesday night to defend himself from criticism he received on social media following his earlier comments. He also posted a video, showing the interaction between he and the reporter.

“This is how all of this started,” he said on Twitter. “I really Pray for all of us because this was something so minimal that was hilarious to me that you allowed a FOOLISH media outlet and person to play on your Preconceived notions. I’m all about Peace, Love, Work, Commitment, Sacrifice and Forgiveness.”

The video shows Deion cut off the reporter immediately after hearing the reporter refer to him by his first name. Sanders suggested the reporter wouldn’t call Nick Saban by his first name.

Nick Suss said the he does, in fact, refer to Nick Saban by his first name when talking to the Alabama head coach.

The reporter didn’t maliciously use Deion’s first name in an attempt to anger him. However, when Sanders made the comment about Saban, the conversation certainly turned.

Deion’s next interaction with the media will be one to watch.
