Urban Meyer Reacts To Getting Blown Out In First Game

Urban Meyer’s NFL debut did not go as planned.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not expected to be good this year, but many believed they could get a win against the Deshaun Watson-less Houston Texans. That didn’t come close to happening, though.

Houston blew out Jacksonville, 37-21, in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. The Texans raced out to a 20-point lead and never looked back.

Meyer faced some major criticism on social media throughout the contest. Fans are already speculating about his next coaching stop, joking he’ll return to college like Nick Saban did.

The three-time national title-winning head coach faced the media following his first loss.

“I’ve been warned that this is a marathon, not a sprint… we’re still a work in progress… I did not expect that today [but]I believe deeply in this team. Line up and go again,” Meyer told reporters on Sunday evening.

Meyer added that he was most “disappointed” by self-inflicted mistakes.

Meyer and the Jaguars will look to bounce back in Week 2.

Jacksonville is scheduled to take on Denver next Sunday at 1 p.m. E.T.
