Tony Romo Thinks 1 NFL Team Could ‘Shock’ People

The Philadelphia Eagles had a rough go of things in 2020, logging a 4-11-1 record and failing to make the playoffs in a historically-bad NFC East division.

Despite these recent struggles, former QB turned NFL analyst Tony Romo believes the Eagles have what it takes to “shock” the league in 2021.

“I think they’re going to be a surprise team. They could shock a lot of people and go 10-6/11-5 very quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they have a great season this year,” Romo said, per Eagles Nation.

Of course these projected records don’t matchup up with this year’s new 17-game schedule, but you get what Romo is trying to say: the Eagles are in for a big turnaround this coming season.

One of the reasons Romo gave for this potential improved play is the addition of first-year head coach Nick Sirianni, whom the former Dallas quarterback feels will be “great” in his debut season.

After three seasons as the offensive coordinator in Indianapolis, Sirianni was hired as Philadelphia’s head coach in January of this year. The 40-year-old coach replaced former longtime HC Doug Pederson.

The Eagles also have new beginnings at the quarterback position. With the departure of Carson Wentz, second-year QB Jalen Hurts will finally step up as the team’s unquestioned QB1.

The No. 10 overall selection of reigning Heisman winner DaVonta Smith should give Philadelphia a boost on offense as well.

Looking to prove Romo’s prediction right, the Eagles will kickoff their 2021 season with a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.
