The Lions are fielding trade offers for a struggling veteran linebacker, according to reports.

The Detroit Lions have had a lot of problems at linebacker this week, and a veteran player could be the one to bear the brunt of that frustration as the team tries to improve at the position.

Following a game on Monday Night Football in which Jamie Collins was the subject of much frustration for the Lions, it was revealed this week that the team may be looking to trade Collins and go younger at the position, most likely in the form of Derrick Barnes, who coaches admit they are impressed with.

The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, who speculated on the Lions’ interest in acquiring Collins on the evening of September 22.

The Lions are clearly committed to a youth movement across the roster, and it makes sense that linebacker would be one of the first positions to be addressed. Collins struggled in Detroit’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, and Dan Campbell mentioned it after the game, saying Collins’ movements are “a little different.” ”

Clearly, the Lions are looking for a way out with Collins after a rough start to the season, and if they move him, they may look to remove the training wheels quickly.

Jamie Collins Appears to Fit Within Detroit’s Defense

The Lions’ poor start to the season is a disappointing development for Collins and the team after a promising start. Collins admitted to the media on Thursday, August 5, that he is having fun as well as feeling good after changing his body and losing some weight. He also appreciates how the shift in philosophy has aided in the development of himself and the team.

“I’m having a good time and feeling good.” I’m in a good mood right now. I was able to shed some pounds. So, I’m out here having a good time and loving every minute of it,” Collins told the press, admitting he had lost a few pounds and was now 250 pounds.

In terms of the new staff, Collins and others have praised the “blank slate” with which they’re working right now, as well as the coaches’ hands-on approach. “They’re very hands-on..”

Nothing is simple, so I’m not going to say it’s easy. Guys, on the other hand, are aware of the situation. Guys are aware that this is a new beginning. “When you get a fresh start, guys start to lock in even more,” Collins explained. “I just feel like a fresh start is very beneficial..” When you’re a newbie, it’s only natural to jump right in. Just focus, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. It’s all coming together, as I said, and hopefully we’ll be able to keep it up. ”

It’s safe to say things haven’t gone as planned for Collins in the team’s new defense so far this season. Given everything Collins has done in the league, it’s hard to blame the Lions for thinking he had the chops to pull off a major career resurgence.

Collins’ NFL Stats and Highlights

For years, Collins has been a consistent performer in the NFL. He began his career with the New England Patriots, where he met former Lions coach Matt Patricia, before being traded to the Cleveland Browns for a few seasons before being released and returning to New England. He then signed with the Detroit Lions. Collins had 577 tackles and 24 sacks prior to joining the Lions. There were 5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, and 10 interceptions. Collins had 101 tackles, one interception, and one sack last season in Detroit.

In terms of edge rush ability, Collins has always had it, as this highlight shows:

Given the Lions’ desire to move on, getting a middle round pick for Collins at this point would have to be considered a win. Dan Campbell Slams ‘Same Old Lions’ Mindset
