Not surprisingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the betting favorites for tonight’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
The defending Super Bowl champions return their entire team and are at home tonight, so it makes sense they are expected to win. As we get closer to game time, the oddsmakers seem to like the Bucs more and more.
Earlier in the day, Tampa Bay was pretty much favored in the 8-to-8.5-point range, depending on what sportsbooks you looked at.
Now, that line has increased by a full point in some places, according to ESPN’s David Purdum.

Anyone betting on the Bucs is going to be wagering on a double-digit win, unless they locked in their bets with a lower line. Obviously, they’re expecting Tom Brady will come out in midseason form, and the Bucs’ defense will be able to slow down a Dallas offense that is long on talent at the skill positions but a bit shorthanded along the offensive line.
Kickoff for Bucs-Cowboys is set for 8:20 p.m. ET tonight on NBC.
