Sports Media World Reacts To RGIII’s Announcing Debut

Longtime NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III hasn’t completely given up on his football career, but he’s trying out the broadcast booth for now.

RG3, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, did not sign with a team for the 2021 season. Instead, he’s accepted a job with ESPN.

Tonight, Griffin is making his college football announcing debut. The longtime NFL quarterback is in the broadcasting booth for the Texas Tech vs. Houston game.

The contest is on ESPN. Griffin is on the call with veteran play-by-play man Mark Jones.

Football fans seem to be impressed with his performance so far.

Rg3 is surprisingly a good commentator for ESPN,” one fan tweeted.

“I’m a big fan of RG3 as a commentator. He is unbiased, classy, and poised,” another fan wrote.

I’m thrilled with RG3 commentary! Spirit!” another fan wrote.

Longtime sports broadcaster Jonathan Coachman is impressed, too.

“RG3 is really good at calling a game. If you aren’t watching he is on color for Texas Tech and Houston,” he tweeted.

Houston leads Texas Tech, 21-14, midway through the third quarter.

The game is airing on ESPN.
