There were times during the 2020 season where Rob Gronkowski looked a bit rusty. Of course, that’s because he spent an entire year away from football before reuniting with Tom Brady in the Sunshine State.
It’s important to not overreact just a week into the 2021 season, but we can’t deny that Gronkowski was very impressive in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season opener. He had eight catches for 90 yards and two touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
Gronkowski revealed on Wednesday that the overall process for him this season isn’t as complicated as it was in 2020. That’s because he’s allowing his body and instincts to take over during the actual game.
Additionally, Gronkowski told reporters that it’s more enjoyable breaking out of the Buccaneers’ huddle and doing what he needs to do to help out the team.
#Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski says that things aren’t as complicated this season. He just reacts to it now. It’s definitely a lot more enjoyable breaking out of the huddle and doing what you need to do. Letting your body and instincts take over.

Gronkowski and the Buccaneers have a favorable matchup this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The All-Pro tight end could be in line for another superb performance.
While speaking to the team’s reporters this Wednesday, Gronkowski revealed that he’d like to see the offense run the football with more success this weekend, saying “I love run blocking, so let’s get the run game going this week.”
We’ll see if Gronkowski and the defending champions can keep things rolling this Sunday.
