Report: Recovery Timeline Revealed For QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

The Washington Football Team had high hopes for Ryan Fitzpatrick when they signed the veteran quarterback this offseason. Now, they have to shelve those hopes for the time being.

Fitzpatrick was placed on injured reserve today after suffering a hip subluxation in yesterday’s Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. As a result, he’s expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Taylor Heinicke, who started the Wild Card playoff game for Washington last season, replaced Fitzpatrick on Sunday. He’ll start for WFT on Thursday night against the New York Giants.

Fitzpatrick completed only 3-of-6 passes for 13 yards before getting hurt yesterday. The good news is it looks like he’ll be able to return this season.

The bad news is Washington’s quarterback plans have changed drastically. After having a revolving door at the position in 2020, the franchise was hoping that bringing in the 38-year-old Fitzpatrick would provide stability at the position.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to plan against the injury bug when it bites.
