Report: How Much Lamar Jackson’s Contract Will Likely Be Worth

With the final year of his current contract quickly approaching, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to sign an extension before the start of the 2021 season. And with that signature will likely come a pretty major payday.

According to recent reports, Jackson is expected to make somewhere between $40 and $45 million per year on his upcoming deal.

“It wouldn’t surprise people around the league if Jackson’s deal came in behind Mahomes’ $45 million-a-year average and ahead of Prescott’s $40 million, but as always, the key will be to watch the structure and guarantees,” NFL insider Dan Graziano wrote in a recent report for ESPN.

In addition to the magnitude of this potential extension, Graziano also believes Jackson’s deal will come before the other NFL QBs from the 2018 draft class. While Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield are both awaiting extensions from their respective teams, neither of them have a 2019 MVP trophy to use as leverage.

After his league-leading 36-touchdown MVP season in 2019, Jackson followed things up with another solid year in 2020. With an 11-4 record as a starter, the former No. 32 overall pick logged 3,762 total yards and 33 touchdowns (second straight season with 1,000+ rushing yards).

Jackson’s current contract will see him make $24.7 million over the next two seasons, per Spotrac.

With the addition of wide receiver weapons Sammy Watkins and Rashod Bateman earlier this offseason, Jackson could be in for an even more impressive season in 2021.

All that’s missing now is a contract to match his contributions.
