Raiders Reportedly Add Player From Seahawks Practice Squad

Las Vegas Raiders’ starting right guard Denzelle Good was carted off the field with a season-ending ACL tear during Monday night’s win over the Baltimore Ravens.

To make up for this void left on the Raiders’ front line, the team has reportedly signed offensive guard Jordan Simmons from the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad. He will be set to join the team pending a physical evaluation, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

After going undrafted in 2017, Simmons signed with the then-Oakland Raiders’ practice squad where he spent the entirety of the year. Following his release from the team in 2018, the former USC lineman signed with the Seattle Seahawks where he made his NFL debut.

Bouncing around between the practice roster, active roster and injured reserve, Simmons saw time in 20 games for the Seahawks. In 2020, the 27 year old started six games for Seattle — primarily at the left guard position. He’s spent time at both left and right guard throughout his NFL career.

Good’s ACL wasn’t the only season-ending injury suffered for the Raiders on Monday night. Veteran defensive tackle Gerald McCoy also went down with a serious knee injury of his own.

The team took a similar strategy with this issue, signing Damion Square off of the Bears’ practice squad as a replacement.

With new personnel on the roster, Las Vegas will look to continue their early-season success in a Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.
