Photo: Ezekiel Elliott Looks Different Heading Into 2021 Season

Every summer we hear NFL players are coming into camp in the best shape of their lives. In the case of Ezekiel Elliott, it might actually be true.

Coming off a disappointing 2020 season, it appears Elliott has focused on slimming down and getting shredded. Last week, he posted a shirtless training photo that went viral, showing off his new frame.

This afternoon, Yahoo’s Charles Robinson posted his own picture from Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif., and while Elliott is layered up with long sleeves and workout tights underneath his practice gear, he does appear to be more trim than we’re used to seeing.

“Picture may not do it justice, but I’ve never seen Zeke Elliott look this size in the NFL,” Robinson wrote. “It’s noticeable.”

Elliott looks good and seems to be feeling good. Now, the last thing he needs to do is play up to his capabilities.

Elliott led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,434 in 2018 and followed that up with a 1,357-yard performance in 2019. However, his 2020 campaign was the worst he’s had since entering the league.

The former No. 4 overall pick set career-lows in rushing yard (979) and yards per carry (4.0) while also only averaging 6.5 yards per reception. He battled injuries during the year, which limited his effectiveness.

If Elliott, who turned 26 today, can regain his past form this fall, it will go a long way in helping the Cowboys get back to the playoffs after a two-year hiatus.
