Carson Wentz of the Indianapolis Colts suffered two ankle sprains against the Los Angeles Rams last weekend. He’ll give it his all to suit up for Week 3, but getting ready by Sunday will be a difficult task. “We have to approach it like he won’t be in there,” Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters when asked about Wentz’s status for this Sunday. ”
So, if Wentz is unable to play this weekend against the Tennessee Titans, who will take his place? The Colts may use two quarterbacks on Sunday, according to NFL Network insider Tome Pelissero. During Wednesday’s practice, Pelissero said practice squad quarterback Brett Hundley received the majority of the first-team reps. Second-year quarterback Jacob Eason, on the other hand, could have a good game against the Titans.
There’s still hope Wentz (ankles) can play. Final decision may not come until Sunday.

For those wondering why Eason might not get the chance to start this Sunday, Pelissero says it all comes down to his lack of “Eason has a lot of talent and a big arm,” Pelissero said, “but he’s only thrown five NFL passes (all last week).” “Hundley has mobility and experience, though all nine of his career starts came with Green Bay in 2017.” Hundley must be promoted to the game-day roster by Saturday. ”
Eason had only 25 passing yards and an interception in limited action last Sunday. He has the arm talent to be a starter in the NFL, but he needs more time to mature. If the Colts don’t trust Eason to get the job done against the Titans, a seasoned veteran like Hundley should get the start. 004
