NFL World Reacts To Mike Greenberg’s “Sleeper” Team

Heading into the 2021 NFL season, ESPN host Mike Greenberg believes the Washington Football Team are a “sleeper” team to win the NFC Championship.

With the addition of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, a dominant pass-rush attack and a solid coach in Ron Rivera, Greeny feels the WFT is being heavily overlooked as they come off an NFC East winning season in 2020.

“The NFL gets so much attention all year round that it’s hard to imagine it could ever have a secret as well kept as the Washington Football Team is heading into this year,” he said on today’s episode of Get Up.

Greeny then went on to compare this year’s Washington team to the San Francisco 49ers’ Super Bowl team led by Jimmy Garappolo in 2019:

“The formula is there and it’s proven.”

Finally with a decent quarterback on their side, young offensive stars like wide receiver Terry McLaurin and running back Antonio Gibson will get a chance to reach new heights in 2021. The team’s defense, which Greeny said was possibly “the best in the entire sport,” should continue to thrive behind reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Chase Young.

The NFL world took to Twitter on Saturday to react to this bold prediction from the ESPN analyst.

Washington will kick off their 2021 season with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday.
