NFL World Reacts To Disappointing Odell Beckham News

Despite seemingly getting the all-clear to play in Week 1, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was ruled out ahead of today’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Browns were planning on letting Beckham play if he looked good in his pregame warmup. But he ruled out about an hour before kickoff.

Rapoport explained that Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski wanted to see Beckham plant his feet well for a set number of plays before giving him the okay. But Beckham ultimately didn’t feel ready to go at 100-percent.

Browns fans quickly lamented the loss of the Pro Bowl receiver. But many believe that Beckham’s absence should open the door for second-year receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to get more opportunities.

Odell Beckham Jr. missed half of last season with a torn ACL he suffered in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. At the time, he was on pace for some of the lowest numbers of his career.

Injuries have taken their toll on Beckham throughout his otherwise stellar career, unfortunately. He missed 12 games in 2017, four games in 2018, and another nine games last year.

While it seems like Beckham should be on track to play in Week 2, it’s easy to question just how many more years Beckham can continue to play with all of the injuries he has suffered.

Will Odell Beckham Jr. make an impact for the Browns this year?
