NFL World Reacts To Big Ben’s Brutally Honest Message

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made his stance on T.J. Watt’s contract situation abundantly clear this Wednesday. He believes Watt deserves a significant raise before the start of the 2021 season.

“I think T.J. should get whatever the heck he wants,” Roethlisberger told reporters. “He’s arguably the best football player in the game right now, not just on defense, just in general.”

Then, Roethlisberger admit that he took a pay cut this past offseason so stars like Watt could receive contract extensions from the Steelers.

“One of the reasons I took less money was for guys like him to get paid, and he needs to get paid,” Roethlisberger said. “He deserves every penny that he wants and asks for. T.J. Watt is that guy that should get whatever he wants.”

Watt has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL for the past few seasons. If he doesn’t receive a contract extension before the Steelers’ season opener, he would, in theory, have to play on the fifth-year option from his rookie deal.

Obviously, Roethlisberger wants Pittsburgh to sign Watt to a contract that’ll keep him in town for the foreseeable future.

Roethlisberger was already an extremely popular figure in Pittsburgh, but this message should win him some brownie points.

The Steelers are running out of time to get a deal done, but some members of the team haven’t given up hope yet.

Watt’s status for Week 1 of the regular season is up in the air because of his contract situation.
