NFL Insider Offers Update On RB Antonio Gibson Before Giants Game

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson suffered a minor shoulder bruise in this past weekend’s Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

As a result of this injury, the second-year RB1 was limited in Monday’s practice.

Fortunately for Washington though, it appears Gibson should be good to go for Thursday night’s matchup against the New York Giants. The former third-round pick was a full participant for the second practice in a row and was not listed on the injury report Wednesday, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Giants’ tight end Evan Engram has been ruled out for the second week in a row with a calf injury.

Following a rookie season that saw him collect 795 yards and 11 touchdowns on 170 carries, Gibson’s workload saw an even greater jump in Week 1. Leading all rushers, the Washington star notched a game-high 90 yards on 20 carries.

Heading into Thursday’s game at full health, Gibson should experience that same level of usage or more — especially with backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke taking over the reigns for an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Tomorrow night’s game will kickoff in Washington at 8:20 p.m. ET.
