In typical Magic Johnson fashion, the former NBA great issued a generic warning to the rest of the league via Twitter on Tuesday. The NBA’s 2021-22 season is only three weeks away, believe it or not. It only seems like yesterday that Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals in six games. Meanwhile, the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 Western Conference Playoffs by the Suns. They’ve since gotten a makeover, with Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and others joining the team. The Lakers are old, but talented.
And, as is customary, LeBron James’ performance will determine their success. Why did Magic issue a warning to the rest of the NBA via Twitter on Tuesday? LeBron James is in top form and on a mission to win his fifth NBA title.
LeBron James is in excellent physical condition, he is focused, and he is driven. His only goal this season is to win his 5th NBA Championship and the @Lakers 18th Championship. Everybody in the NBA should be worried because LeBron is on a mission!!

We’ve heard this story before, especially ahead of the 2020-21 season. We all know how well LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers fared. The difference this year is that LeBron is surrounded by more playmakers and is in better health. You could argue that this year’s Lakers team is far superior to the one that won the championship in 2019-20. There are more shooters and players with a high IQ.
The Lakers’ overall health will ultimately determine their success. Magic is confident that another championship banner will be hung in Los Angeles as long as LeBron is healthy. 004
