Earlier this week, New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones celebrated his 23rd birthday.
His girlfriend, Sophie Scott, posted a short message for the new Patriots starting quarterback – who beat out Cam Newton for the job. “Happy birthday to this amazing guy,” she wrote on Instagram.
Just a day later, Jones revealed that Sophie actually helped him win the starting quarterback job. The No. 15 overall pick from the 2021 NFL draft said Scott helped him with the Patriots playbook.
She even ran through plays with Jones in their yard.
“Mac Jones tells @MerloniFauria that he has his girlfriend help him with the playbook. They even do walkthroughs in their yard,” reporter Mark Daniels said on Tuesday afternoon.

That hard work clearly paid off. The Patriots got lucky when Jones fell in the 2021 draft, right into their laps at No. 15.
Several quarterback-needy teams decided to pass up on Jones, who promptly won over Bill Belichick and company a few months later.
In just a few days, Jones will take the field for the first start of his NFL career. He’ll be going up against an old teammate from Alabama – Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The Dolphins and the Patriots kick off on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
