Look: Photo Of Oregon’s Mascot At Ohio State Going Viral

The first monumental upset of the college football season is in the books. No. 12 Oregon won the battle in the trenches to take down No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday.

The Ducks received superb play from quarterback Anthony Brown (17 of 35 for 236 yards passing with two touchdowns and 10 carries for 65 yards) and running back CJ Verdell (194 yards of offense and three touchdowns), but it was the defense that stepped up to the plate. Even without Kayvon Thibodeaux and Justin Flowe, Oregon held the Ohio State rushing attack to just 131 yards and one score.

Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud had another strong performance, at least according to his stat-line (35 of 54 for 484 yards and three touchdowns). But he had a few inaccurate throws which cost the Buckeyes offense. Oregon, meanwhile, got enough stops – particularly on fourth down tries – to escape Columbus with a 35-28 win.

It’s one of the biggest wins in Oregon football history. The Duck, as a result, is celebrating appropriately by trolling the Buckeyes.

So where does Oregon go from here? The schedule sets up well over the next few weeks with games versus Stony Brook, Arizona, Stanford and Cal. Things get difficult heading into late October.

The Ducks will take a trip to UCLA on Oct. 23 before hosting Colorado on Oct. 30. They then play Washington, Washington State, Utah and Oregon State.

Looking ahead, Oregon can probably afford to lose a Pac-12 game and still get into the College Football Playoff. For now, the Ducks will celebrate one of the biggest wins in their program’s history.
