Look: NFL’s Bucs vs. Cowboys Graphic Is Going Viral

Nothing says “the NFL is back” like the dulcet tones of British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. He’ll play on NBC ahead of Thursday night’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers–Dallas Cowboys game.

The NFL has put out a truly hilarious graphic to promo the game. Rather than put star quarterbacks Tom Brady and Dak Prescott front and center, there is Ed Sheeran, right between the two players.

The graphic was put up on the official NFL Instagram account an hour ago. Almost immediately, the comments poured in about what a goofy decision it was to put Sheeran in the middle, ostensibly making him the focus of the NFL’s huge opening game.

Olivia Witherite of The Athletic posted the graphic on Twitter. It is starting to take off on social media.

Ed Sheeran’s presence in general has been called into question since it was announced that he’d play ahead of the game. He’s one of the biggest musicians in the world, but his music doesn’t exactly scream “get fired up for a physical game of American football.”

Others have made plenty of jokes about some of the subpar quarterback situations around the league (and yes, there are a number of Andy Dalton jokes out there.)

Justin Fields wasn’t ready to perform the kickoff concert either, apparently.
