Now three full years removed from his last college coaching gig, it appears that Urban Meyer is still heavily invested in the Buckeyes’ program.
According to Meyer’s wife, Shelley, the first-year Jacksonville Jaguars head coach is calling “every five minutes” for updates on today’s matchup between No. 3 Ohio State and No. 12 Oregon as he heads to Houston for his first NFL game.
Y’all don’t need to worry about Urbs not thinking about the Buckeyes. He’s on his way to Houston but calling me every 5 min for updates. (Down and distance. Score). Btw…Gray 👦🏼is asleep. #MimiIsAWinner#BestBabysitter 👵🏻🙌🏆

Unfortunately for Ohio State, these updates haven’t all been too positive.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the home-team Buckeyes trail the Ducks by one touchdown with a score of 35-28.
The Buckeyes are 9-0 against Oregon in the all-time series, including Meyer’s 42-20 win over the Ducks in 2015. If his successor Ryan Day wants to continue this streak, his team will have to mount an impressive late-game comeback.
After a three-year absence from coaching at any level, the former seven-year Buckeye leader was hired as the Jags’ head coach earlier this year.
An Ohio State win today would certainly give the first-year NFL coach a good attitude heading into his new team’s season-opener against the Texans tomorrow afternoon.
