Look: Graphic Reveals Oldest, Youngest Rosters In NFL

With the NFL regular season just two days away, Over the Cap has put together a graphic showing the average age of each team’s defense and offense.

As of now, the Arizona Cardinals have the oldest roster in the league. The front office added a plethora of veterans in free agency, such as A.J. Green, Rodney Hudson and J.J. Watt.

Although the Cardinals have the oldest roster in the NFL, they don’t have the oldest offense or defense. The oldest defense belongs to the Chicago Bears. The Houston Texans, meanwhile, have the oldest offense. The Cardinals simply have the highest average of those two units.

Moving over to the other side of the spectrum, the Carolina Panthers currently have the youngest roster in the NFL. They just beat out the Detroit Lions in that department.

Carolina has done an excellent job of reloading on young talent over the past few drafts, selecting Brian Burns, Jaycee Horn, Jeremy Chinn, Terrace Marshall Jr. and Chuba Hubbard.

Here’s the full graphic from Over the Cap:

The gap between the oldest roster in the NFL and the youngest one isn’t as large as you’d think. That’s why most championship teams have a nice blend of young talent and proven veterans.

Obviously, this graphic from Over the Cap could drastically change in the next few months. Nonetheless, it’s still interesting to see how each team stacks up when it comes to average age.
