Look: Cam Akers Shares Message Following His Injury

Earlier today, the Los Angeles Rams were hit with some brutal news when it was announced that Cam Akers, the team’s leading running back, tore his Achilles.

Akers got off to a slow start during his rookie season, but blossomed into a star in the playoffs. Unfortunately, he won’t get the chance to build on that success until the 2022 season.

Despite suffering a season-ending injury, the former Florida State standout is choosing to stay positive. He took to Twitter with a message for the fans who have reached out to him.

“I just want to thank any and every person sending prayers my way and wishing me well,” he said on Twitter. “I hate this happened but I’m in great spirits and I understand God makes no mistakes. I’ll be back better than ever in no time I’m a soldier. Again, thank you.”

In 13 games, with five starts, rushing for 625 yards and two touchdowns, and adding 123 yards and a score through the air. In two playoff games, he had 272 total yards and ran for two scores.

He was expected to be a massive part of the team’s potent offense this season. After the Rams traded for star quarterback Matthew Stafford, it seemed like the stars were aligned for the Rams to make a run.

With Akers out, though, Darrell Henderson, who started 11 games for the team last year, will likely take over as the primary running back.
