Jordan Brand Announces Special College Basketball Event

As the Jordan Brand continues to diversify its portfolio in the U.S. and around the world, they’re moving into one natural area that should come naturally to them: Hosting college basketball games.

On Thursday,  the Charlotte Sports Foundation announced the formation of “the Jumpman Invitational” in partnership with Jordan Brand. This four-team invitational is scheduled to take place between December 21-22, 2022.

It is a three-year agreement to host the event in the city of Charlotte. ESPN will broadcast the games.

Notably, the four teams that have been invited to were the first four schools to sign partnership deals with Jordan Brand. As a result, we’ll be getting Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

That would be a solid group of Power Five teams for any tournament, regardless of the historical precedent. With the Wolverines and Tar Heels you get two NCAA blue bloods while the Gators and Sooners offer two programs expected to be a part of March Madness for years to come.

The four tournament games will be held in Charlotte’s Spectrum Center, home of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets – which are owned by Michael Jordan.

Jordan Brand and Air Jordan have become as synonymous with college basketball as their signature shoes, their massive list of different apparel and Michael Jordan’s legendary career itself.

Who would you pick to win the first-ever edition of the Jumpman Invitational in 2022?
