John Harbaugh Reveals Heartbreaking Details Of Gus Edwards’ Injury

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh met with reporters on Friday and, as you might have expected, running back Gus Edwards was at the center of the conversation.

Edwards went down with a season-ending injury during Thursday’s practice. Baltimore’s starting running back tore his ACL and will miss the entire year. It’s another devastating blow for the Ravens who also lost starting RB J.K. Dobbins to injury during the preseason.

Harbaugh detailed Edwards’ injury during his meeting with reporters on Thursday. He explained that Edwards made a cut during practice but landed wrong on his ankle. His own weight then went to his knee, which caused the tear of his ACL. To make matters worse, Harbaugh called it a “fluke deal.”

The Ravens can’t get rid of their injury curse.

With their top two running backs now out of the lineup, John Harbaugh and the Ravens have to turn to a few veterans.

Baltimore signed Latavius Murray following Gus Edwards’ season-ending injury. The Ravens also have Ty’Son Williams, Trenton Cannon and Le’Veon Bell on the depth chart. There’s a chance both Bell and Murray get plenty of playing time this upcoming season considering their experience.

Regardless, it’s hard to be optimistic about the Ravens this upcoming season. Their rushing attack is such a vital piece of the offense. Without Edwards and Dobbins, the pressure rests on Lamar Jackson’s shoulders.

Baltimore begins the 2021 campaign on Monday, Sept. 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
