Joe Judge Has Promising Update On Giants RB Saquon Barkley

Will the New York Giants have Saquon Barkley in their lineup this weekend against the Denver Broncos? That’s the question that both Giants fans and fantasy football owners want to know.

Barkley missed the majority of the 2020 season due to a torn ACL. He also missed an extended period of time in 2019 due to an ankle injury.

On Friday, Giants head coach Joe Judge had an encouraging update on Barkley’s status. He told reporters that Barkley has been having a “promising” week of practice.

Barkley could potentially suffer a setback during Friday’s practice that would jeopardize his status for Sunday’s game, but all signs at this time point to him suiting up for Week 1.

If Barkley is in uniform for Sunday’s game, it’ll be interesting to see what his workload looks like in his first game back from injury.

This update from Judge won’t throw off the Broncos since they’ve been preparing to face Barkley this weekend.

“We’re under the assumption that he will play,” Broncos head coach Vic Fangio told reporters. “He’s a hell of a player.”

When healthy, Barkley is one of the most explosive players in the NFL. Hopefully, he’ll return to the gridiron this Sunday and show the rest of the league what he’s capable of.

Kickoff for the Broncos-Giants game is at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
