The Cincinnati Bengals have a plethora of playmakers on offense who could potentially have a huge year, but there’s one in particular that has caught Joe Burrow’s attention.
During this Wednesday’s press conference, Burrow revealed that he has high expectations for running back Joe Mixon.
“Joe’s gonna have a big year,” Burrow told reporters. “He’s really put in the work in the pass game as well.”
Mixon had his 2020 season cut short due to a foot injury. He only appeared in six games last fall, rushing for 428 yards and three touchdowns.
If Mixon truly put in the work as a pass catcher, he should be able to take his game to the next level. There’s no doubt that he’s an explosive runner, but he has never had at least 300 receiving yards in a single season. Even during his breakout season in 2018, the Oklahoma product had just 296 receiving yards.

Mixon has clearly won over the Bengals’ locker room this year. He was recently voted a team captain for the first time in his NFL career.
“I am humbled and honored that my teammates think of me as their leader and hope that I can live up to their high expectations and lead this team to the Super Bowl,” Mixon tweeted.
The Bengals will start the 2021 season at home against the Vikings. We’ll find out this Sunday if Mixon can lead his team to victory in Week 1.
