Ja’Marr Chase Clarifies What He Said About The Football

Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase raised some eyebrows with recent comments he made about the NFL football.

In a recent interview with the Bengals’ official website, Chase noted that the ball is bigger and lacks the white stripe on the side that makes it more visible. Many took those comments as his excuse for a number of drops he made in training camp and preseason.

“The ball is different because it is bigger,” Chase said. “It doesn’t have the white stripes on the side so you can’t see the ball coming from the tip point so you actually have to look for the strings on the ball at the top, which is hard to see because whole ball is brown and you have the six strings that are white. But for the most part, just have to get used to it and find out what I am comfortable with catching.”

But after seeing an article with a headline implying that he’s saying the ball is harder to catch, Chase responded. Taking to Twitter, he clarified his statement:

“haha i never said it was hard to catch. they asked me what the difference was in the ball (skull emoji). don’t change my words!!!” Chase tweeted.

The Cincinnati Bengals made Ja’Marr Chase the first wide receiver off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft. They took him No. 5 overall in order to reunite him with former LSU teammate Joe Burrow.

But Chase also hasn’t played in a year, opting out of the 2020 college football season. There may be an adjustment period to begin his rookie year.

Will dropping the football continue to be a problem for Ja’Marr Chase during his rookie season?
