Tragedy struck this week, as the daughter of former NFL linebacker Brandon Short was reportedly shot and killed in Pennsylvania.
The police found Karli Short suffering from an alleged gunshot wound to the head in the McKeesport area. The Allegheny County Police Department pronounced Short dead at the scene. She was just 26 years old.
After the news of Short’s death went public, her father went on social media to share his thoughts on this heartbreaking situation.
“My heart is broken,” Brandon Short wrote on Facebook. “I’ve lost the light of my life, my oldest daughter Karli passed away this morning in a senseless act of gun violence. The love she had was so pure and true. The world lost a beautiful soul. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and please keep our family in your prayers as we struggle through this difficult time.”

Short, 44, was considered a star while at Penn State. He was then selected by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.
Though he didn’t coach Short in Happy Valley, James Franklin opened his press conference on Tuesday with a message for the former Nittany Lions star.
“I would like to just send a message out to Brandon Short and his family, and pass along our love and support, and thoughts and prayers, for him and his family,” Franklin said.
Our thoughts are with the Short family during this time.
