Colts Could Be Without Star Corner vs. Seahawks On Sunday

The Indianapolis Colts could be shorthanded in the secondary when they take on Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero announced that Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes is sitting out of Friday’s practice session due to a calf injury.

“Colts CB Xavier Rhodes (calf) is sitting out practice again today,” Pelissero said. “Not a good sign for his chances of playing Sunday against Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf and the Seahawks.”

Rhodes already missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, so it would take a miracle for him to suit up on Sunday at this point. Colts head coach Frank Reich hasn’t provided much information on Rhodes’ status other than telling reporters “We’ll have to see.”

Rhodes revitalized his career with the Indianapolis Colts las season, as he had 42 total tackles, 12 passes defended and two interceptions. He played so well that he earned a new contract with the team.

In the event that Rhodes doesn’t suit up for Sunday’s game, Indianapolis will need Rock Ya-Sin, BoPete Keyes and Kenny Moore II to step up at cornerback.

Rhodes isn’t the only notable name on the injury report for Indianapolis, as Parris Campbell, Eric Fisher, Quenton Nelson and Carson Wentz are all nursing injuries as well.

Kickoff for the Colts-Seahawks game is at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
