The first major upset of the college football weekend didn’t take long as No. 12 Oregon took down No. 3 Ohio State in the Buckeyes’ own building.

Ohio State entered the game as a 14.5-point favorite. Although the Ducks entered this afternoon’s game as the underdog, it was clear very early on the team came to play.

Oregon was stout in the first half, holding Ohio State to just one touchdown in the first 30 minutes of play. A 77-yard touchdown run from running back C.J. Verdell gave the Ducks a 21-7 lead early on in the second half.

Ohio State and Oregon traded touchdowns for much of the second half. The Buckeyes cut the Ducks’ lead to 35-28 in the fourth quarter, but just couldn’t find that last touchdown to tie the game.

In the end, the Ducks walked out with a massive non-conference win.

Here’s how social media reacted to the upset.

Oregon dominated in the running game, racking up nearly 270 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud did his best to keep the Buckeyes in the game.

He threw for 484 yards and three touchdowns, but a late interception may have cost the Buckeyes the game.

It’s a tough loss for Ohio State’s College Football Playoff hopes. However, if the Buckeyes can run the table in the Big Ten, they might still sneak in.

For Oregon, it’s a massive win that sends a strong message: the Ducks are for real.
