College Football World Reacts To Gus Johnson’s Performance Today

Gus Johnson is pulling double duty in Big Ten country this weekend to open the college football season. After calling an entertaining Ohio State-Minnesota game on Thursday night, he’s in Madison for a defensive slugfest between ranked Wisconsin and Penn State.

When you think Gus Johnson, you usually think high-scoring shootouts. Of course, that isn’t what you typically get in the Big Ten. The Badgers and Nittany Lions are locked in a 10-10 tie in the early fourth quarter.

The game hasn’t been without its excitement, and Johnson has tried to provide some life into the proceedings. He really got into it between the third and fourth quarters, when we got our first true edition of “Jump Around” at Camp Randall in a few years, due to empty Big Ten stadiums in 2020.

Gus was really vibing along with the fans jumping. Overall, people are happy to have the enthusiastic FOX broadcaster back in their lives every Saturday.

There are a few people who have commented that he doesn’t really fit this kind of Big Ten game, though we’re just happy to hear him back calling games with full stands, no matter the score.

Luckily, things have heated up a bit as this game has worn on. Wisconsin and Penn State went to half tied 0-0. Both teams have found the end zone since, even if this is hardly a vintage Big 12 or Pac-12 points fest.

Sean Clifford is 15-for-29 for 188 yards and a score today for Penn State. Wisconsin has leaned on the run game, as expected, with Chez Mellusi pacing the Badgers with 117 yards and a score.
