Earlier this week, the ESPN College GameDay crew traveled to Ames, Iowa for a huge in-state showdown between No. 9 Iowa State and No. 10 Iowa.
The Cyclones were the home team, but the GameDay guest was rumored to be an Iowa fan. It turned out to be Ashton Kutcher, who showed up on the GameDay set to give his picks for this week’s games.
Iowa State fans weren’t pleased with the news because Kutcher is an Iowa fan, but the home team usually gets the guest picker. However, the rest of the college football fanbase seemed fine with the selection.
During the picks segment, Kutcher gave much more nuanced analysis than most guest pickers while discussing their rationale for picking a team. One moment he shared with ESPN’s Lee Corso stood out.
After Corso put on the Iowa mascot head, the two celebrated their picks together.

Even Kutcher’s entrance to the GameDay set had fans going wild. After stepping off the plane, the actor hopped on a combine and rolled his way up to the set.

Shortly before making his pick for Iowa to pull off the upset, Kutcher went through a few coaches on the Iowa staff who deserve more recognition as well.
Ashton Kutcher just went on a passionate rant regarding how under-appreciated Phil Parker is nationally.

All-in-all it was a solid guest performance for Kutcher, who showed more life than most other GameDay guests.
