Carson Palmer Has Telling Admission On Aaron Rodgers’ Performance

Aaron Rodgers looked nothing like the 2020 NFL MVP during the Packers-Saints game on Sunday.

Practically no one predicted how the Packers-Saints contest in Jacksonville wound up playing out. New Orleans dominated from start to finish and walked away with a 38-3 victory. That’s right. Green Bay didn’t score a single touchdown.

Rodgers, in particular, was pretty awful. The veteran quarterback finished with just 133 yards passing with two interceptions. He completed just 15 of his 28 attempts, as well. To make matters worse his effort was questionable and his passion non-existent.

Former NFL great Carson Palmer thinks Rodgers’ performance versus the Saints on Sunday was troubling. Palmer discussed the Packers quarterback’s play during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Monday.

“Aaron looked uncomfortable… He looked like he had cement boots on at times,” Palmer said on Monday. “Something was holding him back and holding him down.”

Take a look.

There’s two plausible conclusions: Aaron Rodgers still isn’t happy about playing for the Green Bay Packers, or his offseason away from football has hurt his physical conditioning.

Regarding the first possibility, maybe Rodgers would still like to be moved this year instead of waiting for next year. And maybe by playing poorly, Green Bay would be more inclined to get rid of him. It’s a crazy theory though, and the second option seems more likely.

Then again, perhaps we’re overreacting to Rodgers in Week 1. For all we know, he could bounce back next week and throw for 300-plus yards and three touchdowns.

The Packers play the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football next week on ESPN.
