Browns Make Official Decision On WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. attempted to give it a go for the Cleveland Browns and play in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was ultimately scratched. But will he be playing this week?

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski gave the final word on the Pro Bowl receiver. He stated that Beckham will not play in Week 2 against the Houston Texans.

Beckham is still recovering from last year’s season-ending ACL tear. He has been practicing with the team and there have been lots of indications that he was going to be ready for the Chiefs game.

But after testing out the knee before the game, Beckham was scratched. There was hope that he would be fit to play in Week 2, but it looks like he just isn’t there yet.

It’s hard to tell from Kevin Stefanski’s statement whether Odell Beckham Jr. will be fit to play in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears. At this point, just about everything seems up in the air.

Prior to his injury, Beckham was averaging 13.9 yards per catch and 45 yards per game. Who knows whether he’ll be back to the dominating force that he once was when he returns from this injury?

In the meantime, it looks like the Browns are going to keep relying on Jarvis Landry, David Njoku and Anthony Schwartz to carry the workload through the air.

The Browns-Texans game will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. EST and will air on CBS.
