Broncos Reportedly Make Decision On Jerry Jeudy

On Sunday afternoon, the Denver Broncos put together a strong performance on the road against the New York Giants, but it came with a significant cost.

Star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy suffered an ankle injury during the second half of Sunday’s game. Just 24 hours ago, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio revealed that Jeudy suffered a high ankle sprain against the Giants.

The ankle sprain is reportedly expected to cost Jeudy anywhere between 4-6 weeks. With that in mind, the Broncos reportedly made the decision to place the former first-round pick on Injured Reserve.

“Broncos did place Jeudy on short-term IR per source,” Klis said on Twitter. “In a mild surprise, WR Kendall Hinton — not Tyrie Cleveland or Seth Williams — called up from practice squad. Hinton was a pleasant surprise in OTAs/early training camp.”

Jeudy was the favorite target for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater before he left the game on Sunday afternoon. The former Alabama star hauled in six of seven targets for a team-high 72 yards in the season-opener.

With Jeudy gone for a few weeks, wide receivers K.J. Hamler and Tim Patrick could see an increased workload. Expect the Broncos to lean even more on Courtland Sutton as well as he tries to make his way back from a torn ACL last season.

Next up for the Broncos is a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
