Bills Make Surprising Move At Running Back On Sunday

The Buffalo Bills unveiled their official inactive list for this afternoon’s season opener moments ago, and one name was surprisingly included: running back Zack Moss.

Moss played a key role as a rookie in 2020, splitting time with Devin Singletary. However, he’ll start his second season on the sideline.

The worst part of Moss being inactive is that he is a healthy scratch. The former Utah star isn’t dealing with an injury; it just seems the Bills don’t feel the need to use him today.

Singletary is Buffalo’s projected starter, and now it looks like veteran Matt Breida will step into the role of No. 2 back this afternoon. Breida spent last season with the Miami Dolphins, rushing for 254 yards on 59 carries.

The Bills enter 2021 as one of the projected contenders in the AFC after losing in the conference title game last year. They will open things up this afternoon against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
