“Better to end career”: Jose Mourinho counters Mesut Özil

It is well known that Jose Mourinho is not someone who takes things lying down. The Tottenham Hotspur coach reacted immediately to his ex-player Mesut Özil’s comments.

During the press conference before the home match against Fulham FC (Wednesday, 21.15), the question naturally arose as to what Jose Mourinho thought of the statement made by Mesut Özil online.

“Who told him we wanted him in the first place?” the Spurs coach replied in his own way when a reporter asked him about Özil’s comments. The two still know each other from their time together at Real Madrid.

The former Germany international, demoted at Arsenal, previously expressed in a Q&A on his Twitter channel that he would rather end his career than join Spurs.

Özil will end his adventure on the island after this season at the latest. Fenerbahce Istanbul are said to be in promising talks with the 32-year-old. However, an agreement, as recently reported in Turkey, has not yet been reached.
