Earlier this month, Alabama basketball star Jaden Shackelford shocked the college basketball world and announced he had entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
Shackelford was a key player for the Crimson Tide, who earned a two-seed in last season’s NCAA Tournament, these past two years. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 14 points per game to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
Naturally, Shackelford received plenty of interest from various programs since his decision. He narrowed his list of schools down to Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech, but also didn’t rule out a return to Alabama. It looks like he wasn’t ready to leave Tuscaloosa just yet.
Shackelford announced on Tuesday he’s returning to play for Alabama this upcoming season. It’s a massive securement for Nate Oats and his Crimson Tide staff.
“i’m blessed to have the support system i have to guide me through my every step. now it’s time to finish what we started… RUN IT BACK!,” Shackelford said on Twitter.
Take a look.

Alabama basketball has everything it needs to contend for another SEC title this upcoming season. Jaden Shackelford could also prove to be one of the best players in college basketball.
It’s been a wild offseason for the rising star. He declared for the NBA Draft back in April, decided to stay in college, entered his name in the transfer portal and eventually decided to remain at Alabama. Talk about a whirlwind.
Nate Oats won’t complain, though. One of the SEC’s top players is sticking with the Crimson Tide.
