The Los Angeles Lakers have been the subject of numerous rumors this offseason, many of which have yet to materialize. Monta Ellis, a former NBA guard, is the most recent player linked to the Lakers. The Lakers are interested in hosting Ellis for a workout, according to Derrius Nelson, the veteran guard’s business manager, who told Empire Sports Media’s Alder Almo. With new Lakers basketball operations associate Jordan Henriquez-Roberts, Ellis has a connection to the team. “I told coach Roberts that Tae isn’t interested in being a star any longer,” Nelson said to Empire Sports Media. “He’s already been there… His [possible]addition could help them become one of the greatest LA Lakers teams in history. It would be insane with Tae present!

“‘Derrius, that’s why I’m calling because I’m familiar with Monta’s playing style. Roberts was quoted as saying to Nelson, “I was a huge fan of him; his [past]works and the time he put in the NBA override a lot of guys that have been coming to work out because he is reliable.” ”

Ellis Hasn’t Played in the NBA Since 2017

The Lakers may host Ellis for a workout, as they have done with a number of veteran players this offseason. Ellis, on the other hand, will have to fight hard just to be invited to training camp. Ellis will turn 36 in October and last played in the NBA for the Pacers in 2016-17. The guard averaged

. 3 out of 5 points There are two assists. 5 rebounds and 1 assist While shooting 31 percent, one steal is made. During his last NBA season, he shot 9% from three-point range in 74 games. As a long-range shooter, Ellis struggled (31.. He had a career three-point shooting percentage of 4%, but he was a premier scorer throughout his career. He averaged 17.

4 points, 8 points 6 assists, 3 rebounds 5 rebounds and 1 assist Over the course of his 12 NBA seasons, he has 7 steals. Prior to joining the Pacers, Ellis played for the Warriors, Bucks, and Mavericks.

Ellis: ‘I Can Still Play 5 Years’

During a lengthy August interview with Empire Sports Media, Ellis stated that he believes he can still play in the NBA for another “five years.” Ellis cited family obligations as the primary reason for his decision to retire from the game in 2017, stressing that it had nothing to do with a decline in ability.

“I think there’s still a lot in my tank,” Ellis said. “I think I’ll be able to play for another five years.” ”

Given his lack of shooting ability, Ellis remains an odd fit for the Lakers. With the additions of Malik Monk and Carmelo Anthony this offseason, the Lakers attempted to improve their long-range shooting. Several guards, including Kendrick Nunn, Rajon Rondo, and Kent Bazemore, were signed this offseason, leaving little room for another veteran. Ellis realizes that his days as an NBA star are likely numbered, but he believes that coming off the bench can help a playoff team.

“That is a role I would be willing to accept,” Ellis said. “Within that role, I could do a lot to help a playoff team.” I’ve got a lot of gas left in my tank. My body is in good shape. My thoughts are concentrated. With my current skills and knowledge of the game, I could definitely assist a playoff team. ”

While the Lakers’ roster is set for the most part, we’re sure to hear more rumors about possible invites as training camp begins on September 28. On October 19, Los Angeles will face Golden State in their first game of the season. Clean Bowled News
