Every once in a while a college football program makes headlines when it offers a scholarship to a very young player.
Well, it was the Florida Gators turn to make headlines. Earlier this week, Dan Mullen and company offered a scholarship to eighth-grade quarterback Julian Lewis.
The Georgia native was over the moon about receiving his first college offer – and from an SEC power no less.
“It was big,” Lewis told 247Sports. “I’m blessed. I’m happy right now.”

“Florida they have had some really good quarterbacks up there. I know a lot of the quarterbacks up there, me and Emory Jones are really cool and me and Carlos Del Rio are really cool. I know Chief Borders and a lot of guys there.”
The young quarterback said head coach Dan Mullen had a message for him as well. “He told me he watched my film and he likes it a lot and he wants to start recruiting me now,” Lewis recapped.
He won’t be going to college any time soon, but it’s clear Florida made a special impact on him.
