Serena Pitt responds to criticism about the age difference between her and Joe Amabile.
Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile got engaged in the final of “Bachelor in Paradise” after dating for a few weeks.
The couple didn’t have too many ups and downs – but neither did the easiest time on the beach when Joe was confronted with ex-girlfriend Kendall Long, who came back and tried to bring their relationship to a close, which generated a lot of emotion.
Even so, Serena remained patient and understanding, and it paid off. She and Joe seem to have fallen in love more than ever and, according to Bustle, are already thinking about moving in together. Not entirely sure if Joe will move to Serena’s hometown of Canada or Serena to his hometown of Chicago – or if they end up in New York – but they are already talking about living together.
Interestingly, the housing situation is the reason Joe and Kendall didn’t work out; Kendall wanted to live in Los Angeles and Joe insisted on living in Chicago. Fans are excited to see how Joe and Serena handle their move, wherever it is.
In the meantime, the two have received quite a bit of criticism about the 11-year age gap together – and Serena has come out on it.
Here’s what you need to know:
On October 13, 2021, Serena created a TikTok addressing the criticism she received for getting engaged to someone 11 years older than her.
“Mom said it was okay,” Serena captioned the video and added the emoji with a shrug. The video starts with Serena dressed casually with her hair down. She holds her hand in front of her face and appears to be showing her engagement ring while the question at the bottom of the screen is, “Why are you engaged to someone 11 years older than you?”
The video then cuts to photos of celebrity couples with an age difference of 11 years, including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, as well as Beyonce and Jay Z. At the end of the video, Serena smiles at the camera. Meanwhile the song “Mama Said” by Lukas Graham was playing.
Serena shared the post on her Instagram Stories and Joe shared it with his again.
TikTok users seemed to really appreciate Serena’s post and shared their feelings about it in the comments section.
“Serena, thank you for representing relationship maturity! Your relationship is so healthy. Hope the best for both of you. Congratulations! “Commented one TikTok user.
“Plus, Joe is a good guy with a good heart. Age doesn’t matter as long as everyone is of legal age, ”added another.
“I don’t care if Joe is 50 years older than me, I would still date him. You are a happy woman, ”added a third.
“Absolutely nothing wrong with the age gap if you and Joe are clearly supposed to be together,” wrote a fourth.
