Anna Sorokin, who was convicted of fraud for impersonating heiress Anna Delvey, was released from prison in February 2021 but was placed under detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in March 2021. Sorokin is now 30 years old. According to ABC News, Sorokin was born in Russia but lived in Germany before moving to the United States in 2013. During her trial, prosecutors claimed she used her false identity “to swindle Manhattan’s elite, gaining access to exclusive parties, nightclubs, and hotels,” according to ABC. According to the news outlet, she was accused of defrauding businesses totaling $275,000 over the course of ten months, including hotels, restaurants, banks, and a private jet company. Prosecutors Argued Sorokin’s Instagram Page Shows She Hasn’t Changed Her Behavior & Said She Should Remain in ICE Custody

According to Insider, an immigration judge ruled in April that Sorokin should remain in ICE custody, siding with an Sorokin’s Instagram page, according to the attorney, shows that she has not been rehabilitated. She is described as a “professional defendant” on her Instagram page, which goes by the name “The Anna Delvey.” She’s also “reinventing Anna,” according to the article. ”

Sorokin’s attorney, Audrey A. Thomas, told Insider that the judge determined she should remain in Bergen County jail in New Jersey, describing her as a “danger to society.”

Thomas believes her client is being treated unfairly, according to Insider. “I have two guys who came here illegally,” she told Insider,

. “One of them had 150 pounds of marijuana, was deported, returned illegally, and immigration let him go. They’re also keeping Anna. According to Insider, she added, “I have a guy who was charged with a home invasion, got out on bond, absconded, and then came back.” “Then they apprehended him, and immigration simply let him go..” He also has a criminal case pending against him. ”

It’s unclear whether Sorokin is still being held by ICE today. She is still being held on an ICE detainer, according to ABC News, and officials are considering whether she should be deported. A search of ICE detainees, however, yielded no results for Sorokin. There were no search results for Sorokin at the Bergen County Jail, where Insider reported she was being held.
