State chief of Thuringia AfD politician Höcke apparently infected with Corona.
Now Björn Höcke has also got it: According to several media reports, a Corona quick test was positive for the AfD man. The party has been silent so far.
The head of the AfD in Thuringia, Björn Höcke, has apparently been infected with the corona virus. This is reported by both the MDR and the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (RND). Höcke’s office and the AfD state parliamentary group did not comment on inquiries from Spiegel and the RND. On Wednesday, he did not take part in a special session of the state parliament on the pandemic.
The judiciary committee in the state parliament had previously lifted Höcke’s immunity, clearing the way for criminal investigations by the public prosecutor’s office in Halle an der Saale. According to the authority, the background is a possibly criminally relevant statement by the politician, which he made in a public speech. According to media reports, it is about the sentence “Everything for Germany” with which Höcke ended a speech during an election campaign in Saxony. As a result, Sebastian Striegel, chairman of the Greens in Saxony-Anhalt, filed a complaint.
Höcke’s immunity had already been lifted several times due to criminal investigations. Most recently, the AfD politician temporarily lost his immunity in December 2020 after a complaint was made for sedition. In another case, Höcke’s special status was temporarily lifted in December 2018 at the request of the Chemnitz public prosecutor.
