While episode eight of “The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies” didn’t have any major surprises, it did a fantastic job of setting the tone for the season’s remaining episodes, which will most likely be filled with politicking, drama, and the drawing of battle lines among the veterans. The episode, titled “The Threat,” featured cast members reacting to what happened this week on social media. This article contains spoilers for “The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies,” which aired on September 29 at 8 p.m. MTV, to be precise.

The episode began with a reminder that Berna Canbeldek and Hughie Maughan are the only all-rookie team in the game. Without a majority of the votes, the only way for the rookies to change the game is for a rookie-rookie team to win the challenge or for a rookie to win an elimination to call out a veteran-veteran team, which means no more all-rookie teams. The challenge this week, “Dive Bomb,” consisted of a water and puzzle challenge that was divided into three heats, with the newly formed team of Emy Alupei and Chris “CT” Tamburello emerging as the overall winner. The nominations went off without a hitch, with the exception of a spat between Berna and Amber Borzotra, who considered going out herself to send Berna home. CT and Emy, on the other hand, chose two unproven rookies, Jeremiah White and Priscilla Anyabu, in the Lair. Hughie and Berna were sent home after they put on a strong performance in the match. After that, Priscilla decided to shake things up by pairing up with Josh Martinez, leaving no all-rookie teams in the game. Because Jeremiah chose Tori Deal, Nelson Thomas and Tula “Big T” Fazakerley were paired up, and Ed Eason and Ashley Mitchell will be paired up in the future. The Cast’s Reactions to the Challenge This Week & the Three Winning Heats

Amanda Garcia shared some behind-the-scenes of the challenge this week, writing, “Wtf so lame they didn’t show @KyleCGShore sea bob not working at the beginning it was soooo f***** funny “S*** was hard af.,” Josh Martinez tweeted, revealing that the puzzle was extremely difficult. “Come on Berna, we have this,” Hughie wrote. “I’m currently calling CT for puzzle lessons,” Josh joked. ”

Hughie tweeted after losing their heat in the challenge, “Me and Berna almost had it its so heartbreaking to lose so close..” “Ugh, that’s like me and Michele,” Corey Lay agreed. Being a rookie/rookie team that almost wins a mission stinks. For a rookie team, having agency power would be fantastic. Devin Walker and Amber won the first heat, Ashley Mitchell and Josh won the second, and CT Tamburello and Emy Alupei won the third heat and the overall challenge, according to Amanda:

Amber pointed out that the three teams who finished their heats first all had champions, with Devin Walker and Amber winning the first heat, Ashley Mitchell and Josh winning the second, and CT Tamburello and Emy Alupei “The top three were all champions!” “Did y’all see that?” she enquired. During the deliberations and nominations, Hughie tweeted, “By now I am just fed up with the game so all I ask is a fair game at least..” “Amber was never going to go in to elimination, I mean she didn’t win by being stupid, we all wanted to avoid the elim hence the rookies voting with the popular vote, it ain’t just the vets running the game we were strangers to each other so we vote with numbers to help OURSELVES,” he wrote. “I’m so sad to go home but I’m so proud of berna for her amazing work, priscilla and jeremiah I’m so proud of you guys..” Hughie wrote after he was eliminated: “I’m so sad to go home but I’m so proud of berna for her amazing work, priscilla and jeremiah I’m so proud of you guys..” “I start crying AGAIN, gosh,” Berna said. Thank you @ChallengeMTV @MTV for hosting #thechallenge37. “Like my ex partner @PriscillaAnyabu said: ‘Let the Game Begin,'” Nelson Thomas wrote. “Ugh love you so much @hughie_maughan SO SAD TO SEE YOU GO,” Amanda wrote on Twitter. Berna added:

“The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies” airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. MTV broadcasts at both Eastern and Pacific times.
