San Antonio – San Antonio police released a body camera footage on Wednesday showing that a police officer had fatally shot a suspect who shot another police officer a while ago.
Stephen Prim, 35, was shot by police on August 13 after a long chase on the east side of the city.
Police were called in early that afternoon after Prim threatened to shoot people outside a gas station at 4500 blocks on Lakewood Drive.
The first chief officer who arrived at the scene encountered Prim riding a bicycle and tried to chase him.
Prim abandoned his bike and ran away on foot, jumping into the 4900 block alley of Wycliffe.
The second officer found Prim and began chasing him. At that time, Prim fired a gun and shot the policeman twice with his foot. The policeman got over the injury.
The chief officer returned to the car, drove towards the last known location in Prim, and followed him near the car wash.
Prim emerged from behind the building and froze for a moment in front of the police. Police believed that Prim was still armed and police officials said he had fired his gun. Prim was declared dead on the scene.
“The suspect was later determined to be unarmed at the time,” Lieutenant Michel Ramos said in a narrated video of the shooting.
Police later found Prim’s firearms on the roof of a nearby house, police said.
The shooting is under investigation, police said.

According to experts, the release of SAPD video is a “great first step”, but not transparent enough.
