Clare Crawley talked about how she was sexually abused as a child.

During an appearance on “Red Table Talk: The Estefans,” the former “Bachelorette” star revealed that she was sexually molested by a counselor at the Catholic school she attended.

Crawley said of the school employee, “I don’t believe any counseling was done.” “Being a predator was a one-on-one experience..” ”

Crawley Revealed That She Was Molested By a Priest When She Was in School

“I grew up going to a Catholic school and was a victim of a predator,” the Sacramento native told Us Weekly in the interview. “My parents regarded Catholic priests with reverence, as if they were on a pedestal.”

She went on to say that religion was “very deep” in her family’s roots, and that her parents “did the best they could and reached out for the resources they could at the time and sent me to this priest.

Crawley, who kept her secret for years, added that predators “bank” on their victims remaining “silent.” ”

“These predators bank on us not saying anything and not opening our mouths, and that gives them that power,” she told Hollywood Life in an interview. “And that’s why, after 39 years, instead of allowing it to have a negative impact on me, I asked myself, ‘How do I reclaim my power?’ Because the weight I was carrying for so long was unworthiness, embarrassment, and a sense of not being worthy of the church standing up for me. And then I realized, “You know what, this isn’t my burden anymore.”

Crawley went on to say that she had recently decided to carry “being a survivor” instead of shame.

In an Instagram post earlier this year, Crawley revealed that as a child of sexual abuse, she spent her “young adult years in unhealthy relationships feeling unworthy of the good ones..” ” She acknowledged that she had never felt good enough for the men in her life.

Even on ‘The Bachelor,’ viewers saw Juan Pablo Galavis, the leading man, disrespect Crawley. According to the Sun, after one of their dates, Galavais whispered an obscene comment in Crawley’s ear. Crawly said at the time,

, “I’m shocked.” “He chose to say something to me that no woman wants to hear. He doesn’t know who I am, and there’s a sexual thing I don’t want to bring up again. ”

According to E!, Crawley famously scolded Galavis on the season finale of his ABC dating show.

Before appearing as a contestant on Galavis’ season of “The Bachelor” in 2014, Crawley appeared on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast in 2020 and revealed that she had just gotten out of a “really, really abusive relationship.”

She also talked about how she overcame the shame of sexual abuse as a child as an adult. “It’s been something I’ve hidden for so many years,” she said, “but until I’ve owned that part of my life and looked at the stuff I’ve been through not as shame, but as my superpower, and these are the things that have made the woman that I am today.”

After years of hiding her childhood traumas, Crawley now wishes for someone to “love” her for all of “the hard stuff” she has experienced.

Crawley’s “Red Table Talk” exposé comes amid reports that she and her “Bachelorette” fiance, Dale Moss, have broken up. Call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE or go to rainn.org if you have been a victim of sexual abuse or know someone who needs help.
