According to the report, China’s top executives said Thursday that the United States should not have “any illusion” about Taiwan, and Beijing reiterated that it would not compromise on this issue.

China’s Defense Ministry spokesman Janice Wu held a press conference and accused the United States of “many irresponsible things” about the issue, Reuters reported.

Beijing has frustrated neighboring countries and western governments with its increasingly aggressive diplomatic and military policies. Taiwan and the mainland have been governed separately since 1949 after the civil war.

Biden invites Taiwan to democracy summit

The Biden administration was criticized by China on Wednesday after the State Department announced that it had invited Taiwan to the Democracy Summit next month.
